Tucked away in Santa Barbara County is one of California's wine gems: a small town called Los Olivos. With dozens of wineries hosting a tasting room in or near the town, this place is an idyllic spot to taste artisan California wine. Mary and Jim have been here on numerous occasions, but Matt and Kristina recently ventured here for the first time. Here are some of their thoughts.
After windy highway 154, we nearly missed the turnout for Los Olivos. Upon first impression, this small town is bursting with an incredible amount of charm, and (fortunately for us) wine. On our list for the day were tastings at Stolpman, Carina, Carhartt & then a quick jaunt over to Solvang to hit up Lucas & Lewellen. We're happy to report that none of these disappointed. The stand out of the day was definitely Carina Cellar's 2013 "Seven Percent" Syrah. A former club wine of ours, we decided we need to bring it in again.
Cheers to Los Olivos - a land full of delicious Pinots and Rhone-varietal wines alike. Heading up to Los Olivos? Be sure an stop by the shop for some of our favorite places there and along the way. Been there before? Leave us a tip here! We'd love to hear from you
